Fantastic Frisco

WOW, what a week. What a hectic week. We were in Frisco, Texas for our 3rd event of the year. Well, let’s back up a little. After Tampa, I went back to my apartment in Orlando and had to move all of my stuff into storage. I only rent for the winter time, so what a pain that was. We got all our stuff out and then I made the painful drive from Orlando to Frisco. I stopped in Mobile, AL to visit a good friend from college, and then I stopped for Easter in Shreveport with another friends Mom. I arrived on Monday in Friso to find great weather. It was so nice the beginning of the week. I played in the pro-am on Thursday with 4 terrific guys. We had more fun than anyone on the course, I can guarantee that, and we even played great golf too!!!! Then everything changed.

Friday was WINDY. They say that the wind can blow in Texas and boy were they right. I had the second to last tee time in the morning and when I finished, I felt like I had just finished a boxing match. I shot 1 over, and that was really good for the day, so I was happy. Not everyone finished due to the TORNADO that was coming….what????

The girls went back out at 7:30 the next morning, can you say COLD? As the temperature went down, the scores continued to go up. Well, I ended up not teeing off until 3:30 in the afternoon for my 2nd round. What do you do all day??? I watched some movies, read a book, and then decided it was time to go play some golf. I had a bet with Marshall that we would only get in 12 holes, he said 14, well, I ended up losing a buck on that one. So then WE were the ones that had to go back the next morning at 7:30. We had 4 holes left. What a difference a night makes. It was calm, sunny and almost a perfect day. If it were light when we were warming up, everything would have been perfect. I wound up not playing too great the 2nd round and finished 5 over. Still not too bad of a position.

After finishing our 2nd round, they made the cut and re-paired. Final round, the sun is shining, there is only a breath of wind, and you actually don’t see black raingear on every single girl. We all finally had our personality of clothes back on. I was on cruise control for the day, it was really fun. Some people would say I had a hiccup on 14, but I hit the shot I wanted. After 13 holes of cruise control, I stepped up to the tee. 170 to the pin, 185 to the back, wind in the face. So I hit choke 4 iron and FLEW the green!!! What is that? I told my dad WOW, I don’t hit it that far. Then I had a horrible lie over the green and wound up double chipping it. oops. Great thing this is an honor game, b/c niether of the girls I was playing with even saw it. In the scoring tent, my scorer read 5 and I said no, 6, I double chipped it. Anyway, I wound up 3 over for the day and lost a lot of money on that hole. But what can you do. That’s the game of golf. I really learned a lot about my game in the wind these last few days, and good thing too. We are getting ready for the windy swing. I hope everyone is well. I’ll keep you in the loop from the tour. Thanks for reading. Happy Golfing!!!!
